How Does This Lock Work?

There are these cable boxes at the apartments where work but we do not have the keys for them. Only Comcast does. They are shaped like a star with rounded points and there is a hole in the middle. I brought a flashlight down yesterday and did not see any pins. I was wondering if it's possible to pick these locks and how to.

You will not get any help picking these locks here. You do not own it, therefore it would be felony breaking and entering.

That lock is in use, not yours and in general considered "high security" do to the nature of the application and will not be discussed in the open forums

Welcome to the forum, first and foremost.

Unfortunatly, we can't really help you with picking or otherwise opening locks that you don't actually own. There are legal and ethical issues involved, in addition to the fact that it's general not a wise idea to mess with other people's property.

In terms of general identification, I'll leave that for others to do. I'm not all that good at lock identification yet.

Sorry, i guess i should have explained. I work for the apartments and am trying to find a solution to getting into one of these boxes. A resident is complaining that there is an animal in it. I was given the go ahead to open this. We do not want to pay Comcast to come to open something in our own garage.

If still cannot tell me how to go about opening this could you at least tell me the type of lock it could be?

Nope, sure can't.

Whether you want to pay comcast or not isn't something that concerns me. I dont care if you open it or not.

What I do care about is you do not get the information here so I am locking this thread.

BTW, in most cases such as this comcast will come open a box for free if you explain the situation.
