A tabby cat about 6 years old, and with the ability to open any lock in the world, and the true maker of the bogota picks, Raymondo just sells them for cat fud !
Am I close ?????
Do I get a prize

I just read this post and when I saw you made it from a hacksaw blade, I thought it's gonna break.
By the time I got to the end, it was confirmed...irony maybe but, you will have better luck using SS/Bristles or even windshield wiper inserts for Bogota's.

The problem is, it is nearly impossible to get SS bristles where I live, and the only windshield wiper inserts I have are of 2,5mm (3/32 intch) width.

I see the delimna. If the 2.5mm ones are all you have, you may need to invest in some 4mm inserts. You can find them at Wal-Mart and some auto suppliers, look for the name Anco, they come in a blue and yellow box. You will be able to see the inserts inside the wiper from outside the package to make sure you get the right size, as they sell wipers with both size inserts.
When I have to buy them, I always buy the longest wipers, there the same price as the short ones, but you get more for your money.

Buy windshield wipers? Buy?? JUst go to nearest auto repair shop and ask for used ones Or go into the nearest junkyard and ask from there. I have scrouged those blades from my neighbours by asking and all the relatives and from the trash bin at the gas station. I think that I have something like a 60-70 wiper blades around

I'll put in my info on this...
SS bristles are about 3mm...
Windshield wipers are 2.5mm
I often take my SS bristles down to 2.5 mm because they are too tall.
So Libris, use the 2.5mm windshield wipers. You may think that they are too shallow, but trust me, the best bogotas i've made were off these 2.5 mm wipers.

Couldnt navigate through those pictures very easily, but it looks like reparsed is making them right. who else graduated to making better picks than you can buy? there have been a few threads on peoples picks, but maybe it could all be brought together in a group somehow.

Quick question to anyone whose made these...
I dont have a chainsaw file on hand, but I've got some impressioning files on hand, Would filing the hard'ish metal of the bristles hurt the files?

Yes, dont use those,
Just buy a set of needle files, the cheaper the better if you like (as they tend to be a bit corser),
I suggest you keep your impressioning files wrapped up so they dont get blunt and keep them specifically for that purpose,
Sorry,

Sorry,
Thanks for that Shrub. The dollar stores here usually tend to have some cheaper files in stock.
Cheers.

Off topic a little, do people really change their windshield wipers or inserts that much? Personally, I've never changed my inserts.. ever.
