Pinball Lock

Postby watzii » 8 Jul 2007 14:20

Hi,

I was going to put up my pinball (Getaway Highway 2) again after years in storage; and can't find the stupid key to the machine.

I'm thinking of picking the lock but can't seem to get a good idea even on what type of lock it is. Could anyone have a look and say what my best course of action is?

Thanks,

You'll more than likely have to post a picture of the entire pinball machine in your house, before anyone will help. Write LP101 on a piece of paper and put on the machine also b4 taking the picture.

Looks like a double-sided wafer lock. Not that easy to pick. If it's your machine, just drill out the lock. You can easily buy a replacement then you'll have the key.

It is mine.

That is unfortunate. I was hoping you'd say that it would be easy to pick :]

Hmm... Then I'll just have to google for some info about drilling locks then.

Looks like a wafer lock to my eyes.
viewtopic.php?t=10541 for a guide as to the innards of such a lock .
A ball type pick will do the job, that said I use a standard hook pick on one side and then the other and so on till it's open.

Usually fairly easy to open !
A quick search on the site will get you more info on picking in general.

A very nice machine by the way :-)

Doctors differ and patients die !!!
I find them pretty easy to open, at least any I have tried.
It's worth trying to pick it first ( I think) at least you can remove the lock then and replace it pretty easy.
Unless you drill it correctly, you could end up in a right mess :-)

Thanks. I think I'll give picking it a go. Drilling seems a bit... destructive.

If that doesn't work, I think I'll try to get a hold of a local pinball dealer and see if he can help me.

btw, when I did try to pick it; I can get the first-left one to stick in position in a "unlock" position; but whenever I touch the other ones, it goes right back to default position.

It'll be a long night, good thing I'm on vacation :]

Thanks for the info.

Guess the lock?

Postby Raymond » 8 Jul 2007 18:47

This looks like: 1. an Arrow double sided or 2. an Illinois double sided (probably not Duo). Use a wishbone torque tool and a ball or normal curved pick. Try to take all pressure off of the door so nothing is binding the cam on the inside of the lock.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool. Wisdom is not just in determining how to do something, but also includes determining whether it should be done at all.

Your picture is not good enough, it is a picture of a pinball machine that could be anywhere, i could go to my local pub and stick a bit of paper on any machine and say its mine,

The lock isnt hard to pick at all as said above and opening it will be far easier than if it was a pin lock,

Yes, well. Rodfather23 suggested I'd do so at 9:28, 9:34 I had posted photographed, put the SD-card in the computer, uploaded it to imageshack and posted the reply here.

but I'll post a new pic tonight, so everyone is satisfied :]

The point is i was making a point not having a go,

This is having a go.....

Can i please remind those of you with a poor memory or bad ethics that destructive entry is not discussed in the open forums and n2oah you should have known better than to post that,
