If you find yourself in a lockout situation where all the pins are the same length and the keyway is big enough, should work fine.

Just glancing around my place, I noticed quite a few things that could be shaped into picks or wrenches using very crude methods. Some examples-
-shampoo bottles are often made with pretty durable plastic
-tweezers
-laundry baskets, again, often durable
-jar lids
-prongs from a standard plug could easily be used as a wrench
-slats from window blinds
-picture frames
-many mid to high quality hiking/work boots have a metal shank in the sole
-spiral notebook binding
I imagine you could find a bazillion useful bits of electronic and mechanical household devices, if you ripped them apart.

OK THIS IS A WAY BUT IT CAN ONLY BE USEFUL A FEW TIMES.You will need 1Can aluminum will work but wears out very quick so i perfer tin can. A file and a pair of tin snipes/and needle nose plyers. Useing the plyers make small indent in rim of can the thicker part known as the lip cut through with tin snipes be careful as this is sharp for now"use gloves if any chance of cutting yourself"Now can should be cut about 1/2 way take a guess on the size you want your wrench and cut apprx 1/4in more than you will need now cut that peace off this should leave everything still attactched at the bottom of can.then cut the lip off as close to rim as you can and you will use plyers to bend and smash to correct form and size you need. Now theres you wrench!AS for your pick if its tin can you can just trim another larger piece off the bend and cut to the pick you perfer small diamond or even small w rake. Now pick away works best on larger sloppy lock but could work in a pinch a few times hope this brings out some other creative ways

-tweezers
Tweezers can be used fairly easily as a tension wrench, i've managed to open a number of padlocks using my repinning tweezers for tension, also a bottle opener on a multi-tool / penknife works if bent double and tensioned in the "close" direction on the tool to allow for low tension. All i've ever tried for pick replacements are paperclips (and they are poor).

I can't believe this one hasn't been said yet. In some prisons, the inmates will file down their crappy toothbrushes (the kind they would give you at the dentist) and use them as shanks. There is a thin metal strip inside the handle of the toothbrush. This would make a decent pick, and it even comes with a handle!
also you could use the metal end of an electric toothbrush as a pick.
there are little metal plugs which are almost just like a bobby pin but are much stronger metal which you can file and straighten into a nice pick or tension wrench.
this one is a little less practical but probably possible. On some black and decker wood clamps (not sure about other brands) there is a long metal rod that the clamp sits on, you could cut that into just about anything you wanted.

A few people have mention tweezers. I have something, I took a pair of my girlfriends eyebrow tweezers and made an auto tension wrench out of them.
I used...
bic butane lighter
channel clamps
needle nose pliers
cosmetic tweezers
What you do is pull the tips apart very carefully because they will break apart.
Then when they are about an inch or so apart get a bic lighter and the channel clamps and a pair of needle nose pliers and bend the tips in a wrap around 90 degree angle dont try to bend them straight over because that wont work.
You have to have them bent at almost exactly the same angle o they will fit in the keyway.
Then take a file (im not sure thats in the rules but thats what i did) and file off the little things i dont know what they're called but they're on the tips and its the part that actually pulls out your eyebrow hairs.
Thats about it if it wont fit into a lock then just try filing the tips down a little more to make them narrower and the tips dont need to be very long they just have to barely go into the lock to apply sufficient tension.

Actually you don't find out that you made something wrong, you just find yourself locked out of home and a pile of your stuff nearby the outdoor
