No online or correspondence course has the authority to issue it's students a locksmith license. The best you can do is a Bond card/ID card that you get after you subscribe to The National Locksmith magazine. You can get the offer for this subscription near the end of the Foley-Belsaw course. Not the same as a license but it's better than nothing.

And unless you plan on becoming a professional locksmith theres no real reason why you would want a lockie license anyways.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Because Licensing is handled state by state, licensing is an issue for each state independantly. There are few courses available, but currently no nationally accredited course.
This of course will change if and when national licensing comes into effect.

There are a few courses available online. One of the newest and very professionally written course is from The Society of Professional Locksmiths.

For more information, tune into www.lockradio.com

They usually broadcast twice weekly. Thursday at 8pm EST and Sunday at 8pm EST.

This Thursday, there will be offerings on the site for tools, machinery, parts etc at better than wholesale prices. Should be quite interesting.

Check out the Society of Professional Locksmiths. Look at www.lockquiz.com or listen in to www.lockradio.com tonite for more information.

This company is offering online courses for locksmithing with highly qualified instructors from across the country. No need to travel if you cant...altho remember that if your state requires accreditation...they need to point out where you need to get the accreditation from.

If it is only ALOA, then you need to comply with their rules.

poppasmurfenfold....As far as your Locksmith business license in Miss-sip...looks like your good to go. Just fill out a business app. and pay what ever. The State miss-sip site was a bit un-clear about doing it on-line but I could not find any need for a special test, first, for locksmith's.

This should help on your app. as well.
Use: SOC #49-9094
As the trade ID for "Locksmith's/Lock servicing" and such.

Hope this helps and GL.
If at first, the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it. A.E.
