As I understand it, and I am sure someone will correct if I am mistaken,
Keyed alike is where a random cut key has more than one locks made to fit it.
Keyed to pass is where a known key (ie has an identfying number etc) has more than one locks made to fit it that it can open.
Not to be confused with a master key system.
Hope this makes some sense I may of explained in a bit of a strange way.
