Schlage Rim/KIK cutaway

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Schlage Rim/KIK cutaway

Postby unbreakable » 20 Jul 2007 18:27

Well, I got bored again, and finally decided what to do with the funky Schlage KIK lock in rim lock.

Here, it looks normal, it could be used like this, no problem
Image

This is the back end of it, the screw holds the KIK in the housing.
Image

KIK removed, showing pins with no key inserted. There are 4 spools and 3 serrated key pins.
Image

Correct key inserted, and plug rotated.

Wrong key inserted, notice the one serrated key pin.

Personally, I love cutaways, this one can be tricky to pick with the security pins, and I like how I can easily put it in the rim cylinder, makes holding it or mounting it on the lockboard a lot easier.

I had a lot of fun with this one, but I think I'll sell it soon...

That's the new cork to protect the REALLY high dollar bottles of wine.
