Abus 65/40 Padlock

Postby FiveHorizons » 22 Jul 2007 21:53

Hi,

I just started picking and I've been practing on my front deadbolt and on a Abus 65/40 padlock. Does anyone know if this padlock has a security pin? I'm using a basic Southford Set.

Thanks

Welcome to the site. It's great to have you here. We are a helpful bunch but please try to remember to search before posting a new topic. As for your questions... You should NOT be picking your front deadbolt. You can damage it making is useless and possibly trapping you inside. As for the Abus lock, if you are truly just starting out it's way to advanced for a starter. Try a Master #3 and a cheap deadbolt from your local hardware store. Thanks Freakparade3, I was successfull with my front deadbolt and I was doing it with the door open just in case I ruined it. I'm going to pick up a Master #3 and a cheap deadbolt for sure. I'll post how I make out in the future.

Thanks again!

Good to hear. The problem with picking your front door lock is that any problems may not be immediately obvious, but may show up in the future. It's best to leave them alone.

Yes your abus has security pins. most likely spool pins..

try to get the cylinder to fulse set.the plug will turn about 10 dagrees.... . then.. lighten up on the tension and pick the pins again.. but with super light tension..
