Money box.

Postby Drumachine09 » 27 Jul 2007 17:07

Hi everybody. Heres my problem.

I have a money box, with three wheels with numbers on them the numbers are 0-9. The code used to be 000, but someone accidentally changed it, and i dont know what it is. Is there any special tricks to opening one up, or do i need to do 000,001,002,003 etc?

thanks,

~Matt

Yeah, but I don't think it is appropriate to tell it here. I can give you a hint: It has three numbers.

Other than that, try out every number.

Can you show in any way that the box truely belongs to you? Otherwise we can't really help out and this thread will probably get locked.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

The OP has PM'd me a few times already and apparently there is money inside and a reason to get it open. I've already told to call a locksmith and to pay from the knowledge.

Well, i dont know exactly how i can show you it belongs to me. I could take a picture of it, but then people would just say "he could have stolen that" or some other crap like that.

You are quite right about that, it doesn't prove anything else than it is in your possession, so the point is kind of lost.

But the fact that you are a new member around (oh, welcome by the way, almost forgot to say that) here, make a first post about a money box and that there is money in it, it kind of sounds sketchy. I know that you might be telling the truth, but as a newcomer we don't exactly know you or your backgrounds or your behaviour, so it is kind of risky to tell anything like this.

And as I've suggested, if the thing needs to be opened ASAP, then call a locksmith and (s)he'll be able to help you out :)

Other than that, stick around, get known to the sport, practice and read alot and one day you will find that the lock you have in your money box is kind of cheapy ;)

Well, i understand what your doing, and i cant help but respect that, no matter how much it pisses me off. I remember what the clasp (i guess thats what you call it) looks like, so i am using a bent coat hangar to get in where the number wheels are at to see if i can get it. Ive already made it up to 500, but i figuered this would save me alot of brusing and blistering on my thumb.

Plus if the box wasnt mine, id just file off the rivets on the front that hold the lock mechanism on.

Yeah, i understand. Its frustrating as hell though. Ive been through every combination once now. Im going to try it again, but go slower. If that doesnt work, i might have to end up filing the rivets off the front, and having my pay docked.

Can't you just get like a thick metal thing and pry off the lasp? I mean if it is a cheapo lock then it might just open under pressure and then it might just might go back and continue to work...

If it set up similar to the majority of briefcases and cheapy luggage locks, than it shouldn't be too difficult-
and your locksmith shouldn't charge too much to open it.

Ok, now im really pissed off. I used a woodworking chisled to pry open the front half, while i used a coat hanger to undo the hasp on the lock. The top shot open, hit the back of the box, and then slammed closed again, and now i cant get the chisle back in.........
