i would hear someone sawing an aluminium ladder. Also the neighbors all look out for each other here. Some kids were climbing over the back the other day then started gathering stones so my next door neighbor said "Oi what you lot doing and then they swore at him then he said this is private property get lost or ill phone the police.

There must have been about 6 teenagers and my next door neighbor is in his 50's. Within minutes there was about 8 people ( me included )outisde telling them to go now or the police are going to phoned. So we are pretty safe.

In that case your in the minority, around here and other places i heasr of the threat of police means nothing, it means nothing to me and it means nothing to these kids,

What that encounter would have meant to me was a brick coming through the window tomorrow night,

If your happy then fine, its your areaand you know your neighbour hood better than i but i have to add i dont get kids climbing over my fences as they know better,

shrubsy

Postby raimundo » 26 Jul 2007 7:58

hey shrubsy, try a shotgun with rock salt loads
where I grew up, there was a guy who had a five strand barbed wire fence and dogs, the kids would sneak onto his land just for the thrill of running away when he came out with that thing.

I guess thats no longer politically correct.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!

darksided....... it isnt illegal and whoever told you that was wrong,

If you are carrying them around at night up to no good down dark alleys you will be arrested for gogin prepared i would assume but otherwise honest and mature use of them is totally fine,

You will find 99% of police just want to see how you pick a lock,

Ray you dont know the half of it, im house hunting and want somewhere out of the way so i get no kids etc around the house vadleiseing it, i was gogin through the very suggestion of what to load shotguns with to protect myself,

The way i look at it is that if im on a hill somewhere in a converted barn the crime would be a lot more serious and no-one around for backup of either party envolved, its illegal to have a gun unless licensed and you have to jump hoops to get that license, i will be able to get one i think due to the farm but do i really want to be shoting at people and more importantly do i really want people shooting back,

The conclustion i came to was trip wires around the perimiter loaded with shot gun sheels loaded with peppercorn aimed to hurt their ankles as they step on them then i thought about animals so raised it to waist but then i thought about kids faces so moved it up to the head then thought what the hell am i doing thinking about thi lol ill just lock the buildings up and have cctv if i get robbed its my fault for being a lockie and not secureing the property good enough,

My present house has steel bars over most of the windows and wood laminated steel doors,

fair enough. Just saw ur post about the shotgun shells. there is a tripwire system that comes with small shells with no projectile. just sounds like some one is shooting at them. legal in the UK. unlike blowing peoples ankles out.
