I remember someone made some out of wiper blade inserts that were bent into shape. It might be stickied somewhere.

This might be a hobby you would want to wait until you are older and have a job to purchase the materials needed to pursue this hobby.

Not only do you have to purchase picks/tools to make them....you also have to buy practice locks and what not.

Not to mention that if you do use grinders or rotary tools, they can be dangerous if proper safety is not observed.

I've only been in this hobby less than a month and ive found that having a solid set of picks will make a difference. Well if you really want a set without a grinder, get yourself a set of carbon hacksaw blades from hardware store for like two bucks. Im pretty sure you found how to make them out of hacksaw blades if you could find where to purchase lockpicks on the internet by searching. If not, look under the stickies under lockpicking 101 faqs and under lockpicks - manual with those stickies for templates. Well heres the hard part but if you are dedicated you'll have the smoothest picks around, and maybe be like raimundo. Get yourself a variety of sandpaper from around 120 grit to 600 or so and start sanding with the rough material til you get your shape of your pick, once thats accomplished start shaping it as you progress to smoother sandpaper. Soon you'll have great looking picks just like if you had a grinder. Its possible since im thinking you dont have a job living with your parents. So post back in a couple days and tell me how they came out.

just sand yourself a nice small hook and bend yourself some type of tension tool and you're ready. Most of the time i use is just the small hook unless someone wants to see how you can pick a lock with no skill and rake a lock open.

ok heres the lowdown, my dad and i would use a grinder to make the picks ok, my dad is kinda ok with the lock picking thing, my mom isn't, secondly my dad and i don't have any hack saw blades to break up, and my mom would get all poed if we did go out and buy some and make them, so as i said before and i will say it again, i am gona wait till i get older

rocketmn has made a good decision in waiting "questions" so please dont push him in the wrong direction. He is listening to his parents which is what he should be doing. Who knows, maybe by listening and showing maturity his mother and father will both realize that he is grown up enough to handle the responsibilities of owning lock picks.

Great job Rocketmn. You are doing the right thing by following your parents advice  .
