o yea i appreciate all the help, and actually i have a hardware store like 2 minutes from my place that has them, but as i said lol, i will wait till high school and over the years, i will work on my parents and my dad and i will probably end up making them with his grinder or buying the cheap $10 starter set on lockpicktools.com
If a lock can be figured out, then how come women can't, they are both puzzels? Hold on what am I saying, us guys will never figure out women lol

Parents can be tough. The best thing for you to do is respect their wishes, and prove to them that you are on the "right" path. Mabye that will expedite your quest for picks.

But, i still do it in my room i use my trusty hairclips if i need more hairclips i will go out and get some.

Proctor, ask them if they have a hammer or crowbar. If they answer yes, ask them why they don't go around robbing peoples homes?
...and those who have grown up will know what the parents will answer to this question "Don't be so silly/sarcastic and gotoyourroom!"

Well i had JUST made an exception to my rule about helping newbies outside of lp101 and added you to msn to see if I could guide you in the right direction after seeing an attempt to help some one in another thread. but never mind. don't bother allowing me after that comment.

Firstly i totally agree with Zeke,
But, you sound like your doing it anyway which is confuseing,
Did you mean you wont try making any picks but will continue to try and pick locks?
If so then you really need to work on your parents and try to get a proper set or you will give up quite quickly with sticking paper clips etc in locks,
If your parents are not sure show them around here, show them we are sencible adults, the site is looked after very well with any crinimal activity jumped on from a great height at the mere mention of it,
We work to make this site user freindly for people such as yourself,
Show them some of the videos on toool of the competitions etc and explain to them that its the same as any other hobby, it could be used illegally but if your mindset is not like that anyway why should you,
Tell them you have been brought up by them do they think they havent brought you up properly?
Show them this thread if needbe,
But after all that you MUST respect your parents final wishes, all kids try it on and see if they can get around their parents for somthing and im not gogin to discourage you from doign that,
IF you wait then you can use that time to read through this site and build up your knowledge but i warn you its infectious and you will likely end up making somthing sooner rather than later,
As regards hacksaw blades then thats fair enough but how about gogin around your local garages and seeing if they have any broken ones in the bin, while you are there grab any thrown away windsheild wipers,
Good luck with whatever you decide,

thanks you guys that helps alot, and when my dad saw the sight he kinda laughed but i really didn't show him it, he doesn't think i will get into it(he thinks its a phase) or that i will get obsessed with it, and Proctor, can you explain to me how you made your picks out of hair pins, cause if i can pick locks with that and show my parents i can do it and impress them, that might help me on my quest to being able to A. buy a set or B. make a set with my Dad

With respect dont ask proctor hes as new as you are and doesnt know himself,
If you really want to go down that route then look up a thread called paper clip picking by smas choice, it may be slightly differant title but you will find it,

In your situation i see little other option right now,
Show willing and interest and prove its not a fad to your parents, they may just be seeing dollor signs and how much you need to get into the hobby so rove yourself and keep your hand in, even if you dont do anything practical you can easily get to learn all the theory,
Show them the guide on my www button and try to see if you can get your dad into it as well that way it cant be that bad if you do it togehter, tel them dad can hold the picks when your not picking together so you cant be getting into trouble, your gogin to (if not already) read up how to do it anyway so you know how to do which they cant erase from yuor head,
Good luck young grass hopper,

Yeah im new like you
Well, whenever you go out DO NOT take your picks!! no matter the situation unless your a LOCKSMITH.
Heres my story of what happened today.
I went out with my friend, he lit some grass on fire..the police seen us and stopped and called us over!
They searched us for items, the day i took my hairclips out omg..
In my pocket was : a phone, key, padlock, 2 hairclips bent into shapes of picks..
Nearly got put in jail for it.. DO NOT take them out!
I learnt my lesson..

Protor you didnt nearly get arrested for having two bent pins, you nearly got arrested for being a dick and setting shite on fire,
Why is it that every post you make makes you look even worse than the last one?
Law also varies depending on where you live,
Im in a very regretful mood that weve been helping someone who gives the impression that your gogin to be up to no good, no-one starts setting fire to things by accident regardless of who lit the grass your both as bad as each other and should both have very large diameter wooden rods rammed right up your .........
Right im off to calm down, your last few posts havent put you in a good light, think about which side of the law you want to be on before you continue asking us for our help.
