Round Tensors

Has anybody used a round dial tensor tool like this: http://www.lockpicks.com/index.asp?Page ... &ProdID=60

Any pros or cons of such a tension tool?

I bought one a few years ago. Didn't work out too well. I only really used it maybe 3 or 4 times and since then it has not had contact with any of my locks.

i guess that would benefit to show for educational purposes on the torque change when a pin is set or a spool is around but for the most part of picking, a regular tensor will be efficient enough to pick. I think if i got one, i would prolly use it 3 or four like eyes.

I haven't personally used one. But i did a bit of digging on them a while back because i was interested. pretty much everyone said they are not worth the cash. but if you are really interested i would put an add up in the BST section (if u meet the requirements) and see if anyone is bored of theres.

Thanks for the input guys. I still have a month or so and a couple of posts to go before I can post to the B/S/T section. I think I may just try to make one of these. Any thoughts on building one?

there is a guide floating around by melvin2001, he used a bottle cap if i remember correctly.

I think that for someone wanting to make one of these, if they have access to a lot of old lock parts, the escuteon or other collars that are made for cylinders, and there is a large variety of them, would probably adapt to making the circular tensor very nicely.

I would say that it is a great idea, but the heart of lockpicking is about using your hands. When you introduce something like this, you lose the feel you get when you use a regular tensor. You won't be able to apply minute differences in pressure, just the set amounts that the tool gives you.
