I don't know the exchange rate but I am thinking $2.00 = 1 pound

For a used machine that is a little high as you can buy a NEW one in the US for $1900 with all accessorys

What to look for ? Does it have all the wheels ? medeco + flat keys .. + 2 "regular wheels" ?
does it have the new vices ?
Does it have all the spacing blocks?
there are like 8 or 9 if you get the flat key spacing blocks
Does it have the " special " tip stop guage ?
How old is the space and depth book .. that will give you an Idea of how old the machien is .

Check the machine for general wear.. Framons are famous for not wearing out so some wear is ok ..

Good luck .. you are looking at a fine piece of machinery that will give you many years of dependable service

i will now know a few more questions to ask the seller and what to look out for .i have been looking at some american sites and like you say i can buy new ,but with shipping costs and now the new vat laws on imports i think i will probably get this one .i was quoted £1650.00 plus vat from a supplier here in the uk so if its in as good condition as he says i think/hope i will be getting a good buy .
i will let you know tomorow

Yes, shipping from the US will really get you. I looked at shipping a machine to the UK not long ago and it was around $400 through UPS. Not cheap at all.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

Lol yup, expensive shipping

See if the cutters need changing and ask how much use its had,

We dont need the medeco bits etc as we dont have them but if they are with it then bonus,

At that price i would be tempted to look into a new one however unless this one is like new,

hi
got the framon 2 and i am very pleased with it .
only got the one blade with it but the seller said he is posting the tibbe cutter during the week .it probably could do with a new belt some time in the future .
all 6 spacing blocks but no slotter cutters or blocks
genericode 2005
work light
dial calipers which i like better than my new digital ones now lol
i know i paid slightly over the odds but i am happy with it and i am sure it will last me for many years to come .
thanks for everybodys advice i will be posting some questions about master keying very soon lol
