Help with my Chicago lock

Well,i was going through my junk box when i found a chicago lock with key.So i inserted the key and it would not turn so i put my half dimond in there and jiggled the pins around just in case there were stuck.After that i put the key in and it still would not turn,So i put some graphite in there and slide the key in and out and jiggled it but it still would not turn.

I noticed on the key it reads(2135) and on the lock it has(H2133) so i dont know if these numberes have to match,Do they?

So is it some thing wrong with the lock or the key?

If the key slides in and out of the lock without feeling jammed or restricted chances are the lock is fine, and you may have the wrong key for that lock.

They are very easy to pick, it will make a good wafer practice lock.

I would have to agree Kaotik, I think you have the wrong key for it.
Try your luck at picking it some more, kinda curious?

oh,and how do i go about on applying tension,and picking method?

Typically, tension is applied with a double-prong tension wrench (wishbone) but can be done with a standard wrench inserted into te middle of the keyway.

The pick of choice is purely up to you, it could be a Ball, Half-diamond, Double ball, or even a Hook. Rake one side then the other until the plug turns.

That type of lock is extremely easy to pick. Use a half ball or ball pick.
