Wow - You just wrote a reply, and it had absolutely no usefulness whatsoever!

Try different tension untill you are able to set pins.

Many of the smaller Master Locks have 4 pins.

Is the lock old or new - if it is new then you're probably applying too much tension and so making the pins hard to move. If the lock wasn't a cheapo it may have securuity pins which have false set, hence making it very hard to press them down.

Lockwoods aren't the hardest to pick, and make great beginner locks if you live in Australia - Check out Bilocks for very diifficult Aussie locks.

When you say hard to push in the back, make sure you dont have your pick tooo far past the last pin where you'll be trying to push the locking mechanism instead. Most master locks i've seen are 4. I use very light tension on these locks. I can single pin pick a schlage lock but when it comes to these master locks with the lock cylinder being loose inside the lock makes it hard for me. The easiest technique i have found to open these is to apply light tension placing the tension in the cut out at the bottom of the keyway and taking a hook pick and placing it to the back pin and pull out very quickly gliding the tip of the hook on the bottoms of the pins. This usually pops them open within 3 + or - quick pulls. This technique to me relates to a bump key cause when you pull out very quickly the pick transfers it momentum to the bottom pin then the top pin while doing it very quick, all the top pins set. But remember to use very light pressure. The locks are very common so prices can be very cheap.
