Hello! I am glad I found this site, I am a carpenter and enjoy installing locks, and Magic / Illusion. I am relieved to see documentation on legal ramifications and local laws. This site looks like a great place to learn more about lock technology. I am also curious about "locksport" and may be interested if i get up to speed.

So I've been meaning to step up my lock picking hobby for several years now, but like so many hobbies of mine, it hasn't been a very high priority. I expect that is about to change, since I recently got back from Defcon and saw people going through locks with home made tools faster than I've often been able to with a key. Seems pretty clear that locks can only stop "the good guys."

Anyway, I like this forum and I expect to be wandering around the topics from time to time. I actually have a pretty specific question I've posted in the Got Questions forum about a locked box my parents found embedded in the concrete under their house, if anyone wants to lend some advice on it.

For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting. Cause everyone should HYSF as well as there Pick-fu.

If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).
Keep it legal.

I've been lurking for quite a while, and thought it was time to post! I started picking locks as a hobby years ago, then got busy with work, etc. Recently picked up the picks and got back into it. I was surprised how fast it came back! I hope to be able to contribute a bit, and just have fun.

Hi all,
Just signed up to this forum after looking for information on single pin picking. There is plenty of great info on here, very impressive. I firsted picked a lock about 6 years ago but the only technique i have ever used is the raking technique. cant wait to see what I can pick up on this forum.

hey guys. im new. well duh. to the whole lockpicking thing. and i was wondering if any of you have any idea where and how i can get a set of lockpick. i do not have a credit card and thus can't order online and my parents aren't really willing to help me buy them.(though they don't really care if i get them myself. hey! my dad was a cop, what can i expect? lol) lockpicking seems very interesting thing to learn and im wondering if i can do it.
