What are Falle Safe picks used for?

I just dont really know. It it to be able to pick the back pin without touching any of the other pins or something?

Nah, I don't think Falle Safe discussion isn't advanced, as long as we're just talking about their basic pick set which I assume we are.

But yeah rockinblack, you are right. Some of the pick designs like the deep and progressive curve picks seem to have limitations. For example, I couldn't imagine getting some of those tools to fit in a lock with a pretty complicated or tight key way. But on locks with no overlapping wards or anything like that can easily accept these picks from my experience.

In addition to the deep curves that everybody associates with Falle Safe pickset there is more "normal" ones, including a number of hooks.
I have a set, look great , but I don't really use them much, I've settled on a Southord medium hook for most of my locks.

In theory the deep curves will reach to the back of a lock without interfering with the pins in front , but as noted the warding of most locks will prevent this and I don't really like the feedback , or lack thereof !

Honestly I feel that the Falle Safe pick set is just for show. I don't really like the feedback I get from that design and most people here usually say that they like their Petersons more and gets better response from the lock than with the Falle set.

I agree for the most part. For the money you will spend, you can buy a much higher quality set of picks. I am not that happy with the steels chosen for the falle safe picks.

On the other hand, there are some locks out there that I just cannot pick open without them or my LAB set.

On locks that require a deep cut access I use my Falle style picks because it has a much smaller shank that doesn't disturb the pin stacks in the front. I'll probably take these picks out of my set soon though after I get the Peterson DCAP.
