Well, they are good. I know what he went through on the pop rivets though. Those are not a good thing to use.

Not putting me to shame though. :D

Hey, there are alot of templates for picks and all printable as long as they have a ruler next to them. You just keep scalling it till you get it right. The best one is from crypto he has alot of different types of picks. Do a search on the forum for print or template and you should get a number of hits. If you are looking for a specific brand just let us know and we can see what we can do.

I have also taken some pictures of diferent types of picks next to a scale. The brands I have done include southord slim line, brockhage, pterson, hpc regals. I have lab's and standard southords also but I have not taken pictures of them yet. Let me know if you want the standard southords or the labs and I'll get them done. :D

Any suggestions on how to make some nice handles on a home made pick set
I made some GREAT ones out of Barbie pins, and out of a steel rake.

Wear and tear from regular use 007?

If riveting sheet aluminum is not possible/appealing then heat shrink is your best bet. This is a rubber material used in the electronics biz to aid in splicing wires together- more like a electricians tape substitute. Sold in various widths 1/8" to 1". An open flame shrinks the rubber tightly over whatever you want. If you don't like it or your pick rusts up you can easily cut it off. Does not wrap around the end of the pick, though. Also quietens your picks in the case- would clank around if you don't.

I don't like the canned plastic dip handle stuff. Fumes, messy, doesn't hold up, once you open the can the shelf life drops rapidly, disproportionate...

Ideally, if I had an injection mold set-up I would want to make textured handles like Peterson's. Wouldn't we all?

hey pickmaker,

re: heatshrink..

I've found that a blowdrier is excelent for shrinking heat shrink, but unless you're very carefull it sometimes creates ripples. does an open flame reduce this problem?
Oh look! it's 2016!

Yep, give it a shot. The stuff is so resilient. You'd think the flame would burn it to a crisp but this is not the case. Ripples (in insulation) are places for condensation to accumulate---ZZZZTT!

Also, electricians tape on top of the shrink is a third option- comes in red, yellow, green, black at Radio Shack.

I'm using one of their stereo knobs for torsion control on a tubular pick project...
