I do not think the standard will specify Pickbuster by name.
I think what they will state is a cylinder can be an OEM or a modified cylinder capable of resisting bumping for a period of X minutes.
I am pretty sure the definition will be fairly wide.

Don't think I'd be putting anything "Tack" in my locks. Get a good freeze here and it'll probably freeze the pins into the unlock profile.

Was there a advised temperature for optimum usage? I dont recall UAPLTD mentioning it.
Like use from -40F to 125F.
If so....then winters in the north east and in Canada would not be appreciative to the product.

Don't know if there is a temp range but up here when we get freezing rain and freezing fog, locks can be a bear to get thawed if they are in the elements. I tend to stay away from anything that may make it harder to get in. The stuff is probably a good idea for indoor use though.

The questions you have asked are interesting. Almore have tested Pickbuster down to minus 15 celcuis and above 60 celcius. But they will now test down to minus 40...................but that is very very cold........you should move to Manchester.....may be wet, but the lowest it gets to is minus 6 or so

Update on Testing.
Almore will have first test results next week from Glamorgan University. These tests cover reaction to household solvents, cleaners etc.
I have also been given authority to copy the following to you on PB cylinders in situ in S Wales
Both Euro and rim cylinders have been run for the last 18 months in the following locations
Typical domestic- medium traffic (10- 15 ops per day) Secure storage – very low traffic (1-2 ops per week) South facing Roadside domestic- medium traffic Roadside communal – high traffic (30+ ops per day) Development site – medium traffic (much sand, dust etc 10-15 ops per day) South facing Development site storage, very low traffic Commercial catering – much oil, grease etc on operators hands (20+ ops per day)
[i]None of the above have suffered any form of reduction in feel or performance, and can be inspected by appointment. The south facing locks were subject to such intense sun last July/ August that most of the day the metal was far too hot to touch.
Anyone wanting to inspect any of thse locations please contact me and I will put ou in touch with Almore.

hey, guys just had a flash, what if you get ultra spring, so they are super springy so they offer maximal force on the pins so they wont come up wen you bump
but you still could get you key in and out without problems
p.s if someone could try it, it could be cool, i dont have super springs and neither bump keys
watch the weather change

Your supersprings (what ever they are) would not work. If they exert so much spring tension that a bump key would not work, then the keys and pins would be dead soon from wear and tear. And trust me, bump key would still work, all you need is a bigger hammer.

Hi. Sorry I have not forgotten you. In our trials in the market we found that our new needles did not fit a small number of lock types most notably Avocet. We therefore designed a new needle that has a smaller bore which is being produced by a needle specialist. We will be finishing trials this week, and then samples will roll off next week.
I apologise for any inconvenience.

Dear Sir As an observer of the pickbuster thread I note UAP have not listed the independant flushing tests carried out using houshould cleaners acetone etc even though many weeks ago they and Almore promised these results. have you seen any yet. Kind regards John
followed by I have not seen any results. but then again I haven't been keeping up with the thread.
Who is this by the way as the email address is different to the one listed on your site.
John

Global,
I have not received my samples yet either. I assume UAPLTD has not sent them out yet.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!
