The correct one for the bitting of the lock, and of course, your personal preference.

Ive herd the correct KEY is supposed to work pretty effectively. Should try sometime

Any cars worth picking have electronic devices (immobilisers and such) so I think its more than just whacking in a "master" key and boom, youve got your self a new corvette. (however, if this is the case with a new high tech tool ive neva herd of, let me know, I could do with a vette 8) )

There are no cars worth picking, except if you lock the keys in yours. And even then you may break it because wafers are not that strong. I would suggest going to a wreckers and picking up an old lock if you really want to pick car locks. Just find it a pitty people still joking about stealing things on here.

I refer to my local locksmith as "The Lock Pick", if that helps.

I suppose it's better to make light of something than to let it get you down though. There will always be people who come in here with 0-2 posts and ask something like, "I need 2 know how 2 TOTALLY rip off this car!" or the more creative ones would say something to the effect of, "I lost the keys to my car. So how do I break into it?"

I remember even I when I was at about 20 posts made a post asking what a locksmiths method was when in a lockout situation for an automobile. If he would check for the model, then find the correct tool...etc.

I should have known better, but oh well.

Knowing how to open autmobiles can't be that big of a secret. One needs only to look at the tools designed to open cars to get a general idea. With some light reading you can pretty much fill in the blanks.

An introduction and the reason why you want to get into automotive opening is forthcoming. If you can't produce these, why should anyone here help you? I have seen too many sad faces delivering their vehicle for repair, following theft/attempted theft by some turd. Don't expect too many answers to this topic.

I totally agree with you but when a member who has access to the advanced forum and has been here for a long time jokes about stealing vettes still, it puts this whole forum into prospective.

Hey all.

Right to the point. Probably more than half the posts in this forum are something like "We won't help you because you're a thief wannabe" . I'm not saying that you should help. But not so many replies (and flaming sometimes) are needed. Most of the times nothing new is said.

One post with a link to the rules would be enough. That would save us regular readers from a lot of time.

Don't get me wrong. I follow the posts and admire all of the people who answered here. But I don't quite get it why half the posts have to be about ethics when there's nothing new to add to them and have been thoroughly descussed.

Please take this as a suggestion for improvement of the forum and not a as flame.

many replies saying "nope, not gonna happen buddy", get's the point across that this is not the place they are gonna get quick info on jacking cars from, and sends them merely on there way. one reply linking to the rules wouldn't get them to stop, would just think one poster is a complete dick and they'd keep trying.

someone who is truely interested in learning how to pick locks, won't run away after the taunts and will start looking around and reading up on everything before posting something again.

I can't see how someone getting one post "that's ain't gonna happen" and no other, will be coming back for more.

Plot didn't say one post, he said 'many', which re-iterates that this topic is off limits. If it were up to me, ALL posts relating to possibly suspect requests about vehicles would be deleted, unless posted in the appropriate section, i.e. the Advanced section.

My 2c.

On the other hand, if no-one answered, maybe the message could be gotten across.......
