Postby tmaxx258 » 18 Aug 2007 19:09

I bought as master 15 today, this is the biggest pin tumbler lock that i have seen,So when i pick it feels like no pins set almost like not enough tension or something.I read a few threads on this lock but i need a little more help.

So,can someone give me so tips on how to pick this lock?

Have you tried more tension? Some of the padlocks out ther have a very strong spring installed to force the cylinder to return to the locked position once open. This takes some time to get used to while picking. My advice is use however much tension is required to get a feel for the pins and then practice.

It has 5 pins,10 rivets,the shakel is thicker(boron aloy 5/16" shackel),the width is 2 1/2".

There is not really much of a differance exept that it is bigger and has 5 pins.

Master locks are easy, that said it might be a high low cut on the key.
Have a look at the key if there is a high cut next to a low cut that could be the cause of your problems.

Did you ever get this one picked? I have the exact same lock and can't seem to get it. I'm just a beginner, and have only picked a cheapie, a Craftsman, and 2 other Masters....This one's got me stumped....

Practicing on a 15

Postby Raymond » 14 Sep 2007 19:42

Try this idea just for practice. Since you have the key, open the lock and put a bolt, rolled up piece of cardboard, or anything that will hold the bolt back into the open shackle hole. With the pressure off the cylinder, practice picking. Once you know you can open it, take out the bolt and work it with full bolt pressure.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits if you don't get it in 30 minutes.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool. Wisdom is not just in determining how to do something, but also includes determining whether it should be done at all.
