There was a post some where on LP101 not too long ago about which is more important ...a good variety of picks, or a good variety of tension tools. Most of the people with experience voted for the tension tools. I didn't feel I had enough experience in order to vote in on that poll. And, at that point I only used one tension tool for pretty much all my locks.

My point I'm coming to is I had a "made in china" 40 mm padlock that I could not pick for the life of me. I shoved every pick I had into it and I even made a smaller bogota just for this particular lock, and still had no luck.

Last week I decided to try picking it again with just a short hook. I couldn't find my (go to tension wrench) so I used shorter and thinner one I had.....I was able to pick the lock in about 10 secs to my amazement. Then I tried putting all my other picks in this one lock and everyone of them opened it pretty quickly.

So....try every different tension wrench you have :-)
