I just made an observation that I should have made months ago.
Southern Specialties' lockpicks are now 20% thinner, from 0.025" to 0.020" thick. This happened sometime in the last couple years, but I don't know when.
To all of you who have purchased picks from Southern Specialties, I'd like you to take a moment and caliper your pick's thickness and relate about what day/month/year you purchased them at what thickness.
Also worth mention; the Southern Specialties' Euro Picks are not actually "slimline" picks (any thinner material) but rather have a much smaller shank from the handle to the head of the pick. All of Southern Specialties' picks are 0.020" thick, which is the same as Southern Ordinance's picks.
I don't have any data on if/when Southern Ordinance had thicker picks than 0.020", but I do know the two [individuals] used to be related when they first started making picks. It interests me when it was decided that 0.025" is just too thick.
Personally, I wish they were still available in 0.025" because they are more difficult for newbies to destroy.
