Hmm, that looks a little odd. I've never seen a pin configuration in a tubular like that (but I don't play with tubulars alot either). Although, I doubt you own the lock, I don't see anything wrong with asking about how it works. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a tubular like this before, so I can't really be of too much help.

Because this is your first post (or thats how it looks, the forums a little broken right now), I'll go ahead and fill you in on our policy if you haven't already read it. As a community, we generally do not pick or attempt to pick locks that are in use. We definitely don't pick locks that do not belong to us/have no permission to pick. I'm not assuming your post is criminally-minded myself, I think it looks relatively innocent and I hope you're just a curious person.

The only devices on which I've seen tubular locks with similar (if not the same) configurations are vending machines ...:?

Yea, I've seen a couple of configurations that look similar that (without the 'large pin'). Maybe something that was done to make regular bought tubular picks useless against them...though now getting a key cut is kind of a funky procedure.

I believe there's a vending lock out there that uses an electronic key. What appear to be pins might be the contact points for making an electrical connection with the key. It would do whatever sort of authentication with the key then trigger a solenoid or something to open.

And yeah, forget about mucking around with locks that you didn't buy just for picking.

Sure looks like a tbar handle to me.

Since it's horizontal, I would say a soda machine. I think most item machines have a vertical tbar.

I can't see a notch cut out of the centre so I think it's just possible that the one larger "pin" at the 12 o'clock position is used to rotate the barrel.

Guess you'd need to make a custom tension tool to open this lock, but be good and walk away if it's not yours! :)
