Hey everyone I am the FNG, F-ing New Guy. I am a former Jarhead and I am now in the telecommunications industry. I am interested in locksmithing as a hobby now and perhaps as a fallback skill if telecomm craps out on me. Not to mention that obvious reasons. My rekindled interest comes after having three people I know lock themselves out of their vehicle, house, and locker at work respectively.

I have since purchased a fairly decent automobile break-in kit and a set out southord picks and a southord stainless steel jack-knife set.

I'm popping my office desk locks in something like 2-3 seconds, and I am working on standard house deadbolts and door locks.

I've already delved into the basic sections of this site, and saved a ton of material to be read over, and I am looking forward to much more.

Thanks for posting all this great info.

For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting. Cause everyone should HYSF as well as there Pick-fu.

If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).
Keep it legal.
Cheers,

New to Site

Postby Oldnewbie » 28 Sep 2007 13:08

Hi All.
Just found the site by accident; Looks like a great help. I've been working on locks (mostly residential) for 25 years or so, but just incorporated locksmithing into my doorhanging business a couple of years ago.

Hey, my name is Ollie. I'm in Minneapolis. I've been thinking about a career change and locksmithing is the one thing I keep finding myself interested in.
I found this board whilst searching for locksmithing info, and it seems to be just the resource I need.

Greetings Everyone,

I am known as Yaggie or SafeCracker to many that know me. I am new to this Forum, but not to the industry.

First off, I wish to congratulate the Host and Contributors of this site as it very refreshing to see the information that has been secreted away for so long put in a context and distributed in a very informative manner for those that are interested in pursuing Locksmithing in any form as a hobby or a profession.

I really enjoy this site and finally decided to register after lurking for quite a while to see how things are handled here and must admit that it is the best I have seen on the internet.
Not is it only informative but also is very responsible in that the Community does practice the side of caution and concerns to the public.

I have been in the Locksmith / Safe Servicing business for over 25 plus years now. I specialize in Safe Opening and Servicing of all non-rated and rated containers.
I have owned and operated my own business for 21 years.
I have been a part of Associations and held various officer positions in those organizations over the years.
I used to teach classes for various associations as a Certified Instructor in the Safe Opening and Servicing, and various other courses.
I am currently semi-retired due to medical reasons and look forward that I can be of a service on this site in contributing what knowledge that I can.

No one knows it all and we all learn new ideas and things everyday as the industry changes as well. I know from this site I have learned some new ideas. Who said you can’t teach a old dog new tricks .(smiles)
