tension wrench stuck in lock

the head of my tension wrench broke in my bike lock that i was playing with for practice and then slid to the back of the lock. how can i get it out!? is a slaghe or however you pronounce the name of the cheaper locks.

Have you tried using or making an extractor? It is a very thin pick with different head designs, made to lift the pin stacks over a key and hook it to pull a broken key out. search the forums or the web to see extractor designs.

i have somthing simular. no good. its a solid peace of medal on the bottom end of the lock

I dont recommend this usually for a newbie but...

use a piece of metal thin enough to fit down the keyway...dab a little vaseline or KY jelly on the end....you should be able to get it out if you are careful and operate slowly...meticulously

Hard to believe that a tensor that is 'stuck' could slide to the back of the lock, usually this situation is where the tensor blade is bound tight between wards. you may have forced it further in.

when a tensor blade is bound tight in a keyway, do not do anything that would straighten the bend of the tensor, this will likely break off that blade and make the problem harder to resolve.

When a tensor blade is stuck take a locking plier and put a loop of wire in its jaw, then slip this loop over the tensor til its in the area of the bend,

Next, support the long end of the tensor so that it does not unbend, and pull the tensor blade straight out, to do this your plier with the wire loop should be a bit to the opposite side of the tensor handle so that it is pulling in the bend

For the more experienced When this happens with a pair of bogotas, you can still use the free piece and slip the bend of this one under the bend of the stuck one and while supporting the long end of the stuck pick, you can get first and second fingers under the two sides of the free pick which is interlocked bend to bend with the stuck one and the thumb will be steading it in between these two fingers, just pull straight out.

if it just slide, maybe you should lub your key way and then put it upside down!

BUT this bike lock is mine

but what happend. was that i pushed to hard and erm. tried to get it out but i pushed it all the way to the back. erm. ky jellie. dont think ill be buying that but i have somthing simular that i use to lube my bike.

If its a very cheap bike lock, why not just cut the lock open and throw it away?, your just gonna waste time trying to get something out of it, when your unsure yourself, and might not manage, They are selling bike locks for £1 in tescos (UK)

one question. . .has you tried putting the original key back in? see if the broken piece has gone right into the back. . . dont push to hard incase you make it worse
if so you could still cut it off and pick it (i gather)

eh it was really my bad. but uh it was more expensive. and my dad would kill meh if i tosted it. do ill keep trying. if i phail. ill chop it.

Being a bicycle lock, that is locked, shimming the core to remove it isn't possible. If it is a really poor lock, shimming it from the front of the keyway might still be possible, if the cylinder lacks a lip, but that still won't free the plug.
