Sargent & Greenleaf Padlock

I just got a Sargent & Greenleaf padlock. I want to know if anybody knows how to dissemble this lock. I have the key and it works fine.

I have looked on there web site but all I can find is how to clean it.any help would be appreciated.

A wild guess: Open lock, look into the shackle hole in an angle and losen a slug/grub screw and remove that circular top piece that sits between shackle legs. The lock is assembled from the top.

I thought maybe that was how, but there is no screw or lug or any thing in hole that I can see. I got the name wrong it is a Sargent & greenleaf 0880 or 0881 lock
I thought that plug came out some way after it was open, I don't want to force it Thanks for the thought & help. JAAKO

I have an S&G padlock almost exactly like this one. On the side where the shackle comes completely out of the body there is a hole drilled through the body. When the shackle is out you can see the set screw through the hole. Loosen the set screw and then the plate on the top, between the shackles, can be unscrewed. From the looks of yours it may need some penetrant to loosen it up.

There is a hole on one side of the lock, I was hoping it had a pin or set screw in it. I cleaned it out and am going to try a allen wrench in it Thanks. I get it apart I will put some pictures up of it.

How do you pick that strange piece of history? Is it anything similar to a warded lock?

Think Abloy. And yes, it is advanced so no instructions.

I'm not shore, I think it is a wafer lock. it's not that old the railroad used this type back in the 80s & 90s don't know if they still do. I'm still trying to get it apart with out destroying it.

It's Sargent and Greenleaf, not Greenfield. You might have more luck trying that out in Google.

I know I had the wrong name at first, but I did correct it later. Anyway here is picture of the break down of it if anybody is interested. The screw plate on to had a roll pin holding it, I had to drill it out. It is between the calipers & cylinder, whats left of it. Could you get some close-ups on the retainer screw/plug? I have a similar constructed lock and I would like to know how the end-plug is attached and how the slug/grub screw/stick is placed. Thank you
