Dunno guys , but it sounds like a straight forward question to me!
He is simply asking ( i think!) if he should go do a course before trying to become an apprentice locksmith, or not bother with the course and try to become an apprentice locksmith.
Kinda simple really
He explicitly mentions the words "apprentice locksmith" , hence this implies that he is not intending to go work as a "locksmith" , hence he is not intending to set up on his own, but seek an "apprenticeship" .
The simple answer is yes!!! Go do whatever course you can prior to seeking an apprenticeship, so long as it's a proper course and the industry sees it as such.
It puts you in front of the guy that has not taken any course.
It shows to a potential employer that you are interested, and willing to go do some proper learning on your own, and not hang around waiting to be told to do so.
Regardless, any learning is always worth the effort, knowledge gained is never a burden, so if you have the interest in becoming an apprentice locksmith go do whatever it takes to get into the industry.
Good luck dude
