try holding the lock so the keyway is down and rapping, if its loose in there it should fall out. IS it stuck, then tell us, thats another set of actions such as putting a thin straight edge in there without any tip that could become jammed, and lifting all the bottom pins up to the top of the keyway, this may allow the stuck rake to come out,
You may have had a weak place where the shaft of the pick was suddenly narrow, where it could only break, not bend, as there is not enough width to the narrow spot to allow some length to bend. this is a flaw. Also, picks should be well sanded to prevent jamming in the lock, and make them easier to remove. Any sharp tool cuts that show in the sanding are in fact, week places where a fracture could occure, by sanding them out, you are thinning the adjacent area so stress cannot build up on a narrow point, but is distributed across an area of equal strengh.
you should also probably tell us the make of the lock its stuck in. that may suggest something about the problem.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!
