Australian picks?

Postby haroldsmoketoomuch » 4 Nov 2007 23:43

I am in Australia and trying to buy a set of lock picks and jigglers. I can find a whole bunch of suppliers overseas (US mainly), but havent been able to find any in australia. Ill import them if I have to, but I would prefer not to. Does anybody know if I can get them here?

If you're not a locksmith or security professional then you may be in trouble. Why not order from OS (eg US)? You can make your own picks and tensioners really easily, have a look around this forum. Jigglers might be a bit harder but there are photos around. It can be a lot of fun experimenting with different shapes, just get a dremel or grinder and some spring steel (eg feeler gauges).

what i used to do to pay for the game i used to play online (my parents did not like the whole credit card over internet thing) was to buy a visa gift card and use it like a credit card but with no threat of fraud. if you are scared of identity theft then that is a good option because you can use it like a normal credit card on most sites.

I bought my set from lockpickshop.com, their shipping price is decent, ditto shipping time, and as they declare the picks as simply "tool", you don't have trouble with customs.

Getting my pick gun and padlock shims soon. So far, seems to be no trouble with customs, as they label them as Hand tools aswell.

Hi mate,
I know you have had a lot of helpful posts already but i thought I would just add that I have never had any problems with ordering picks from the US. I have used lockpicktools.com and lockpicks.com. Both exelent service.

Icevovo, did you only order the peterson pick set from lockpicks.com? I haven't been asked for a photo ID yet and I have delt with them on 3 ocasions? I too was very impressed with the postal time from them.
