Its probably a little more complicated then just "go[ing] through with a short hook." Lol.

Are you trying to say that you are able to set the security pins, and the plug turns a few degrees, and then you go back and single pick each binding pin with your short hook?

For all i know your not even using a tension wrench.

try giving light tension on it. then, go through all of the pins, from the most binded to the least, pushing down slightly. do this a few times, pressing a little deaper each time. you'll probably set a few pins & false set a few security pins. You'll know you've done it right if the plug turns a few degrees. now you've just false set one or more pins.
What I do next is feel all of the pins to see which one(s) is/are false set. If it is, when i press down on it, the plug will turn back slightly. so just let up a small bit of tension & press that pin down until it sets. careful becuase other pins may pop up when that one goes down. that's where very careful tension comes into play. do this for as many security pins are false set.
Try to visualize all of this going on in your head & it'll make it easier.
If you haven't checked out the MIT guide yet, I recommend it. It's got a section on security pins, but the whole guide is fantastic. Here's another good site that has a lot of pictures (good for people like me :) ) http://deviating.net/lockpicking/topics.html

Once you get the false set, focus on a few pins at a time. Don't just skim through it. Once you spend time with it you will get to know which pins are the stubborn ones. I was stumped on one of my brinks locks but i kept trying. Just don't give up. You will eventually get it.

well its suppose to be 5 spool pins so all of them are spool pins and the troubele i have is that when i press up on the first pin, i give light tension, then as i press on it i release some tension and the bottom pin goes up as well, i dont know the shear line of the top pin and the bottom pin
