This seems to be a very popular area, with a lot of interested people! I would love to work with you guys to get a L.I chapter or two started off. Please let me know if you are interested in starting a chapter, or working with another member to become a chapter president.

I'll help out in getting the chapter started if no one else is interested. I probably won't be president as I'm only 16, but I have organized several local defcons similar to this.

What do you mean when you say "you have organized several local defcons." Could you give an example? I'm interested. And being only 16 doesn't mean you couldn't possibly contribute as a chapter president. There are just some technicalities we would have to work out.

I used to be pretty active on all the hacking communities, and there were a lot of people in the chicago/indiana/michigan area and so I set up a mini defcon were I brought in some speakers (the computer security guys at Notre Dame - my dad works there.) It wasn't anything huge, I think there were about 20 people who came, but we all had a good time.

You sound like a very capable individual. We wont deny you from a L.I board members position just based on your age at this point. I need you Black Zero to be the catalyst and team up with the other members on this thread to get the ball moving. Let me know your status.

Just viewing the thread to see what's happening with the 'start up' process.
I'm in Lansing. Driving to SE MI or hour and half drive is about the most I could tolerate, distance wise.

Seems like I could be the 'grandma' of the group...LoL. Shucks, learning is learning, ri?
