Greetings all.
My name is Dave and I am a Security Systems Integrator here in Sacramento. I have been a licensed locksmith since BSIS first licensed locksmiths in the late '80's. The majority of my business is in electronic security Access Control, CCTV, Security Systems, etc...) but we do offer High Security locks to our clients to round-out their security upgrades. Generally I use Primus, Primus-Everest and Medeco for all of the reasons discussed here and on other boards...
My biggest claim to fame is I laid out the rekeying of Alcatraz Island for the National Park Service in the mid '90's. There were/are no keys to the actual prison locks on the island, so we got Schlage to make us 250 blanks in their foundry and we fit them up to the locks on the island. (Six wafer lever locks, same combination from both sides so a key will work from either side.) The locks were really amazingly clean inside considering no one had serviced them for thirty plus years. So next time you see a ring of brass keys while on a tour or watching a movie, now you know...
My question is this:
Is anyone familiar with the NEW Schlage Primus XP and what is different about it to allow a new patent good until 2024?
Thanks!
Dave
