My Dad recieved this lock today from Abloy comemmorating Abloy's 100 years of High Security:

Really, I want that kind of too. I've only seen on sale in here the original padlock, used, with keys and it was like 200 EUR plus postage...

My Dad started our Co. in 1968. He's been an Abloy dealer for approx. 30 years. The above lock was a gift from Abloy Canada for many years of Abloy sales and service.

I was always curious about the locking mechanism that holds the shackle.

The shackle is notched, and the back end of the plug is also notched to hold the shackle closed when locked. As you turn the key clockwise, the end of the plug will rotate disengaging from the shackle, and it will open.
Very similar to the mechanisms on bycycle locks like the large Kryptonite U locks.

How much it is?

No idea. It was a gift.
