Once again I am asking if anyone is interested in starting a lock sport group in Utah?

Been thinking about it, but wanted to get my ducks in a row before making the same suggestion. I'm in West Valley (just S.W. of SLC), where are you?

South Ogden.
West Valley is only 45 minutes away.

Let's meet

Postby MBI » 3 Jan 2008 19:29

Who wants to meet on Friday Jan 18, 2008 at around 6pm to chat and pick some locks?

Impact Guns on 4075 W. 4715 S. in West Valley City has a classroom in the back and I've reserved it for that evening. There's several fast food places within a half block of there if we want to get takeout or anything.

I have two other people besides me who are planning to be there, so that makes at least three of us so far. I have some practice locks I can bring, but if you want to bring some too that would be great. I could probably make it at around 5 or 5:30 if that works better for anyone, but I figured having it at 6pm will work better for those working 9-to-5 jobs.

Alternatively, there's a Godfather's Pizza on 4121 S. 1785 W. in West Valley City (in a strip mall just off Redwood Road and 41st South). They accept reservations for their party room and there's no charge to use the room. They have a pizza buffet for anyone who wants to get a bite to eat but doesn't want to order a whole pizza.

I think there's advantages to both locations but I lean towards Impact since we have more control over the location; the manager has no problem with us using it for a Locksport meeting. If we hold it there I'll bring a few 2 liter bottles of pop and some cups and ice so we won't have to go out to get something to drink.

Either post it here or PM me if you think you can make it.

Ok, I have one more person who should be able to come. That makes four of us so far.

I just ordered a couple of euro locks with scary keyways from zeke79 so I'll be bringing those along with some other practice locks. From the looks of them I doubt I'll be picking those euro locks any time soon. If ever.

Sure. What exactly constitutes an official announcement?

As of now it looks like there will be five or six of us who can make it this Friday. I'll check with everyone then and see if Saturdays or Sundays will work for next time.

sounds good. I'll remember to keep checking the forum. I've been looking for lockpickers to pick with for as long as I've been a member of this site. So thats kind of exciting for me.

I'll try to make it as well. I live up in Layton so West Valley is kind of a hike, but maybe we can find a more middle ground location for next time.
