I'd like to re-pin it so I can follow digital_blue's pin-feeling excercises.
How do I go about removing the plug and stack?
TIA!
lucky for you I have a bunch of KRYPTONITE By Schlage KS42's with black rubber bumper.
insert the key, unlock the padlock, rotate shackle out of the way, and look down the shackle hole. you will find a Phillps style screw. unscrew it and the cylinder will slide out of the lock.
The cylinder will then seperate from a chrome holder which has a groove in it to hold the cylinder bible in place, and it has a screw hole to keep that assembly inside the lock.
now.. at the end of the cylinder is a threaded screw on cap which holds a silver metal cam that has the letters S & P stamped into it.. you'll see a little metal pin there, which is spring loaded and keeps that cap from coming unscrewed. press it in with a small tool, and use your fingers to unscrew the cap. that pin has a spring behind it, so don't loose it.
now you insert the key and turn 90 degrees.. do this on your desk, or even better in a zip lock bag. before you turn the key and pull out the plug.. you might want to look into a plug follower so all the springs and top pins inside dont go flying out.
that should at least get you started tonight
