Master Combo lock

So, Im extremely new to locks in general but I have one problem that has plagued me for years. Master lock makes a lock with 4 numbered barrels on the bottom for the combo and a small key hole to change the combo. I have changed this combo one time and cannot remember it now anyone have any ideas how I can A) recover the combo or B) change it without knowing it?

Start the wheels at this combo.
0 0 0 0

then make the wheels this combo
0 0 0 1
0 0 1 1
0 1 1 1
1 1 1 1
1 1 1 0
and so on, then
0 0 0 2
and repeat till you reach 9
*not being a smartass there either*

then to change the combo, just pick the lock, and change it once its open.
