Starting out what to use.

I am new to lock picking, just wondering what I should use first homemade or should i buy a Lock pick set?

Your best bet is to buy a set. It's best to learn with a proper set of tools no matter what you are trying to do. After you become comfortable with picking then by all means make your own picks. That way if you don't like something about the picks you bought you can modify your homemade ones the way you want them.

It depends on how confident you are at DIY and if cost comes into the equation, there are some great templates on this site. I'd vote for buying some first as that way you will get an idea of what picks really look and feel like before you venture out into your own creations. Even purchased picks from the main suppliers will need some sanding and polishing which will give you finishing practice
