Doesn't Best make parts available to institutions and companies who own a Best system? Code punch, pinning kit, code punch, blanks are all available on Best catalog (to registered Best owners only).
Someone told me that system chart is marked "property of Best Lock Corporation".

I asked in Craigslist's "Wanted" section looking for Best blanks and it got shot down by the community. Overzealous locksmiths perhaps?

Most locksmiths have a strong dislike for the Best corp.

Just my 2 cents worth.... Best makes some of the highest quality lock products. However, you pay through the nose for them. I have never ordered original cores or key blanks. Other available brands work just as good. Just stick with nickle-silver for the strength.
If you need to purchase parts easily, have your consumer make the order on their letterhead and you can install and service everything.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool. Wisdom is not just in determining how to do something, but also includes determining whether it should be done at all.

He was pretty much disowned for his views of wanting to take the company mainstream with locksmiths. The problem is that the nearest Best dealer is 175 miles away and I have a few customers that can't wait for service. I sell Falcon cores and keys. There's no doubt they have their market share, so you can't say their decision was wrong to exclude locksmiths.
Best Universal Lock Corp used to be from your state. Back when State of Washington was abbreviated "WN".

Nice pic WOT. Yeah, that's why I know the founders nephew. They actually disowned him for the most part for his opinions.

Yes...they have an "In Stock" program which they say the items on the program list will be filled and shipped in 2 business days. That list contains key blanks, cores (c/u.c.) various locksets (cylinder, deadbolts, yadda, yadda). Their newest "Key Combinator" is made by Rytan and will never be able to be purchased directly from Rytan. The last time I checked on some prices was before the July increase. The MX8-M key blank (J, K, L, M, keyway) was $1.98 ea. MX8-M core (uncombinated) $19.24 and $30.58 (combinated). Someone told me that system chart is marked "property of Best Lock Corporation".
May I ask? What is the "system chart"?

How old is this nephew?
I suspect he may be imbelishing the net worth that he may have ever had with the direction of the company.........based on how the business was passed down.......more likely at best (no pun intended) was willed minimal stock shares with no voting power..........

I'm not sure of his age, he's older than me (48) and is a computer programer. He set up the companies original computer systems. And they flat disowned him, he got/gets nothing.

Seems to be a bit young to be the founder's nephew.......
Being a nephew (if he indeed really is) he was entitled to absolutely nothing.............
I wonder what this guy knows about your friend............

I believe my friend was ousted in the 1994 reorganization when shares of the company changed hands. He could be the nephew of one of the younger Bests. I will see him in the spring and get more information if I remember. He comes each year for a few months.

One of the grand sons has his own private-label(not sure if they're made in Best factory) competing against Best.
