First picked lock

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Someone posted this pic from on these forums earlier in the year, I thought they looked unique so I copied there design.

Kinda like getting a tatoo, you'll never be satisfied with just one.......yeah, welcome to lockpicking101.

Since becoming an active member in the Forums over a year ago while deployed, i've spent close to a grand on tools from various venders, and yes there is a difference. My first set was from SoutOrd, and I still use the short hook and snake rake from that set religiously (though I claim no religion). I then bought a set from HPC for their tension wrenchs and then I bought pretty much a G-4 set (minus the 2 DAMES tools and the Adam's Trip Wires) from Peterson International for their slimline goverment steel, and now i'm preparing to buy a Falle set from Safe Ventures, mainly because I like the lines of their tension wrenches.

My point is that each vendor brings something unique to the tools we hobbyists/professionals use daily. SO is a great starter set, they provide good feeling, smooth transitions and are delicately comfortable to hold.

HPC is good if you're new and just learning and heavy handed all the way around, get a small set because the amount of abuse they can take will amaze you, a bit less in the feedback area than SouthOrd.

Peterson International, man let me rest for a moment.............I would DIE without some of the picks I own from this company. Specifically the Slender Reach and Gem. These picks greatly increase your chances (NOT SKILL, YET) of picking higher end locks, like SFICs where the keyways aren't otherwise pick friendly. I also own their serrated tension wrenches which hold a keyway fabulously, and I own the Peterson Pry-Bar Lite, which I have come to call my favorite all around tension wrench for top keyway tensioning.

So after all this, you might be wondering, why would you go and spend another $300 on a set of Falle lockpicks? Because, they bring something different to the table, and i'm not at all against mixing and using whichever tool is going to compliment my skills the greatest.

Remember, accomplishing anything takes two things, the right knowledge and the right tools. You can have one or the other and still do it, it'll just take longer. But why take longer if both are already available to you?

Besides, you can NEVER have enough tensions wrenches, flexi, fixed, circular, Peterson Prybar, Falle,........they all have their special uses.

If man is from mars and locks from Lockodia and you speak lockotion, you rule!

Additionally...........least i forget the great works of Locknewbie who was generous enough to provide me a set that, not only are very functionable, but are great to just look and drool over.

Apparently mr nutzman is one of those who do not like the bogota picks that I sent him in iraq. i also included a piece of .010 feeler gauge that was cut like a petersen mightyknife for opening the 4 wheel combo padlocks, but he has not mentioned that even when I asked him if he understood what it was for. :? Oh well, I guess it should be noted that the picks I make are not for everyone. I guess.....
