I vote picks. I mean when it comes down to it, a simple tension wrench can do the work of a feather light, twist, flex, blah blah; with the right touch and skill 8) . Though there are some locks that may be that stubborn, but 98% of the time I only switch between two different tension tools, one being smaller and the other being bigger...

ok maybe 85... forgot about the double sided (auto) tension wrench... although it is possible to use regular tension tools... just makes the job easier but hey it really comes down to skill and preference, at least I think so 8)

Im 98.79% positive that its a plug spinner. Looks like it would have way too much tension to be a feather, plus it has no bend.

I'd go tension wrenches,
98% of the time I only switch between two different tension tools"
95% of the time I'm probably using the SO short hook. It takes me far longer to think what the right tension tool is for the lock if i can't pick it than what pick to switch to.[/quote]

ill answer the original poll, variety of picks is more important, and ill explain ;)

the tension tool is more important because it spins the lock, but you only need a total of 10 to open almost every lock.

picks on the other hand you probably need 30 or 40 to open every lock.

I'll agree with everything you said except switch which sentence picks and tension tools are in. :P
