Help with Master Lock No. 40 Disk Lock

Anyone familiar with this lock? Does it have security pins in it? It seems to, but I'm not sure. My wife bought it for me today as a challenge. So far it is a big one. Any tips on this lock?

I believe it has 4 normal pins, no security pins.

I haven't gotten mine open yet either. It seems to need a lot more tension than usual which I expect is where the problem lies. It may not be that hard, it's just rather different from the other locks I've been doing so far.

But, I just got my raimondo picks in the mail so I should give it a go with them. They open my Master #3 like a hot knife through butter so maybe their magic will work on this lock too

The disk type padlocks are harder to get the right ammount of tension. They don't have a spring loaded shackle like other padlocks. It's the tension from your wrench that turns the shackle, more like a deadbolt than a padlock. It takes heavier tension than other padlocks you have picked. Keep practicing, you'll get it.

I have tried a brinks disc high security lock, It has spool pins, brinks I have found are difficult to pick for me, but if master has this same type of lock I bet it doesn't have security pins, and I bet its not hard to pick

discus locks do not pick up the shackle until after they are picked, some, unlikely the master, have spool pins, light pressure will work, and when you see the shackle move a little bit, you have picked the cylinder and engaged the shackle pickup, you may then have to press just a bit harder, be sure your tensor is not binding against the cylinder wall.
