HomeBrew Tutorial Combo Pack

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

HomeBrew Tutorial Combo Pack

Here are some pictures of my homebrews and where i learned to make them...

this is most of my homemade set, all except for the twist flex tension wrench

close up of hooks

close up of rakes

Image

attempt at ball picks, actually work well on car doors

modified diamond

exacto rake

last but not least... a couple tension wrenches, look the same but have different thicknesses, havent worked on a "wishbone" type tension yet.

all of these tools were hand made using hacksaw blades and coat hangers... picks were made with a bench grinder and and tri-file, i dont use templates... although i do look at them and kind of wing it

the best video i found for lockpick making is PYRO's at

http://youtube.com/watch?v=auQbi_fkdGE

i know this vid is posted all over this site but its still a GREAT VIDEO!

the tension wrenches are actually something i came up with on my own... it might already be out there but i couldnt find it so its mine. they are coat hangers with smashed tips, bent over and tempered, and work pretty darn good.

i made this crappy instructional video on youtube, here it is...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=6OBMVs7VDX4

after you watch it you'll know what i mean by crappy, i studder and dont make much sence... its horrible ;)

anyway tell me what you think, any advice, improvements, questions, comments... so on!

love

just realized how crumby the close ups make the picks look... havent gotten a chance to polish them, but did go over most of em with a 300 grit sand paper

Nah, they actually look real nice. You just gotta grind away the saw tooth or add some handles so you wont cut yourself. I really like your tension wrenches. Are those out of bicycle spokes?
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Thanks for posting dude, these remind me of my first set, everything was as slim as possible and still looked like hacksaws.
The only problem you might have is them bending or breaking.
I really hope you tempered them well.
Make sure you lube and polish them well.

Ace DIY job, my congrats
