I remember that amazing feeling as the cylinder started to turn the first time I ever picked a lock too.
Congrats and keep up the hard work.

I remember the feeling when my first cylinder started to turn... AMAZING! My roommate was next to me and he was like "You are never going to get that stupid lock." And like 1 minute later it popped open!

Congrats! That is a great feeling, isn't it? I'm still waiting to pick my first mortisse cylinder. I've picked dozens of different padlocks but still cn't open a cylinder. I bought a lot of 20 cylinders on eBay and just can't pick the dam things!

How are they annoying?
The sercurity pins or the small key hole?

Congrats, my first lock was a cheapo tri-circle with hair pins.
I'm not sure if I've ever managed to pick it with regular picks
I guess I more or less raked it to death back then.

Bit of both. My SouthOrd set came with one more slender tension wrench so the small keyway isn't really that big a deal for me. The spool pin though is a pain at my current skill level.
oblique465: Good job! Sounds like fun too, I'll have to see if I can ever find one of those safes for real cheap used.

Very nice. My first lock I picked was one that I don't remember the exact model number, but it was a Master 141 that was brass with a black plastic covering. It took me several hours and I still had a lot of problems trying to re-pick it. I have picked it several times, but I had no idea what I was doing. I think that, in general, I didn't learn a lot about locks while trying to pick this. It was too tough, really, and I got it open, generally, by luck. I never successfully picked a lock using makeshift tools though. I only ever really tried (after knowing what I was doing) with professionally made tools.
I'm sure I tried picking a lock as a kid, using a paperclip and nothing else. Nothing to turn the plug or anything, just wiggling crap around inside to see if it will magically turn the plug. I have only seen a tri-circle guarding what looks like some kind of suggestion box at school. I really want to see if I can get my grubby mitts on one of these to see just how easy they are. Lately, I have been a bit rusty on picking because I haven't been practicing that much. I think it would be good to have a new confidence builder lock. My heap of locks that I have yet to pick has gotten a little large as of late. Oh well, I guess the lesson to learn, assuming you are still reading my ranting, is you need to keep practicing. Like most worthwhile skills in life, your skill level will atrophe if you don't practice regularly. So yeah, welcome to the site and remember PRACTICE

Yea my first time was in the kitchen at a party. First I was just playing around with her, then 1 minute later I popped her open. What a great feeling.... Wait, what are we talking about?

I THINK that most of us are talking about picking locks, though I could be mistaken. I'm not quite certain where using the tines of a fork to stick it in the hole provides for a rather disturbing image depending on the situation. Well, good luck with opening locks, and to the rest of you, good luck with whatever your endeavors may be.
