Hello all,

Well I'm new to the art of lock picking having decided to start learning last week. Ironically the day after I began reading the MIT guide my girlfriend managed to lock her keys to the house and garage inside the garage itself.
Unfortunately I was unable to open the Yale padlock in the dark with only paper clips to help me and had to resort to ripping the bracket out of the woodwork with a screwdriver to get the keys back.
Nonetheless this was not to dissuade me and I managed to pick a no-brand 5 pin brass padlock a day or so later using some industrial strength paper clips - My excitement was perhaps a little too enthusiastic for what is no doubt an incredibly easy lock.
I’ve just ordered some picks online, and am eager to start getting to grips with what proposes to be an incredibly interesting pastime!

Just thought I'd introduce myself. I got my first set of picks eleven years ago as a birthday present and have been picking since then. I joined this site because most of my picking has consisted of "scrubbing" locks and I would like to learn more about the fine art of lock picking.

I run a small mobile keycutting business and am also a qualified locksmith, but to be honest I mainly do keys and the odd entry here and there and its a failry new business.

Hello Everyone,

I am a newbie at this, but I have wanted to do this for years. I have had experience in rekeying and typical lock servicing relating to the automotive, motorcycle and residential field.

What excites me is the same for everyone else. The challenge of picking locks! I have not looked on LSI yet, but does anyone know if there is a chapter in the western burbs ofr Chicago?

I've been interested in this sort of stuff since i was 8 but never really got the chance to learn how until i found this website... so i'm new to this site and to lock picking

Hey I’m new here as you probably guessed. I’ve been interested in lock picking for a few weeks now, and just picked my first lock today (using a pen clip and a bobby pin). I think I might get really into it and this web site seems like the best resource on the internet.

My names Al ,Im not new to picken but was just told about the sight.I own a locksmith co in laurens SC, Im pretty good, but have a need for learning,love to learn new bypasses,and tricks. Most of the time I have to put on more of a show than just open a lock or a car.Alot of times I have someone looking over my shoulder ,like to make them say, how did he do that.Alot of the time when the locks picked and you get a thrill from the customer's cheer.I like to show off ,maybe I can pass some of that on.

Hi everyone...

bboswell here. I like messing with locks, etc... I just got my first pick set (southord mpxs-08) and started picking around.

After a minute or two I picked a Master padlock, and did the same lock twice more, but it sometimes takes a LONG time.

I have also been trying a Brinks padlock, but haven't gotten into it yet...

(It's too cold to try my front door for very long. Plus the neighbors might not understand. Especially in this sub-zero weather!)

Just thought I'd come on board and suck up people's knowledge!
