Not sure on how to remove useless old lock from my shed.

I have this lock on my shed that does absolutely nothing, it's just in the way of putting on a real lock. I've had my bike stolen from my shed because of the lock. I really need to take it off, I can't seem to pick it because of how old it is, and I have another key from a different lock, but its the same kind, and I cant bump it. Any ideas?

I have a few ideas myself:
Spray WD40 into the lock and try to pick it.
Bump it:
Or beat the stuff out of it with a hammer.

Well........................if you're not going to do anything else with the lock, you COULD......supersaturatewithwd40andhellapickfastopenlike...........i've done it numerous times with american 5200 padlocks, works wonderfully, or just bolt cut the thing, be done with it, take it inside and supercleanitwithalcoholandletdry and then enjoy picking it.

The easiest solution would probably be to unscrew that handle from your shed door and then slide the padlock off of it.

Well, the handle is nailed on, and I managed to "pick" the lock. The plug actually turned but it didn't unlatch I'm pretty sure its painted/corroded on. I'll have to borrow a friends bolt cutter sadly.

I really doubt the handle is nailed on, and if it is, simply pull the nails and rescrew it.

The nails are painted over, and hammered in the back so they are bent, and besides its very old and bad plywood, it would probably explode if I took them out.

It looks like this lock is just connected to the door handle. How is that causing bikes to be stolen and preventing the usage of other locks?

If you don't have a key and you can't pick the thing then you need to choose between bolt-cutters and removing the handle.

That lock looks like a Master #3 and, therefore, could be vulnerable to directed force from above.

When I was in the Army many moons ago, I used to be able to bust open Maserlock #3's with my E-tool by banging the point of the shovel down on the top of the lock near the hole where the hasp opened (AND NO! I didn't break into anyone's locker - I did it when I locked my keys in my locker and the great thing is that the lock still worked after I got my keys).

Hacksaw + carbide blade cuts threw any hardened steel shackle in seconds.

But using a hack saw on the lock might scratch up the nice paint job on it.

dont use wd40... this will gum up the lock like hell.

use pencil shavings (graphite,lead...w/e) blow this in the lock, that will lubricate it.

then pick it...

or

as above BOLT CUTTERS!
