this is bugging me

Postby frollard » 29 Jun 2004 15:05

just got to the ponderance that I was percieving an imaginary "R" in "schlage" (thought it was schlarge, call me english, whatever ;) )

(easily the dumbest question been asked yet)
my question, what exactly IS the pronounciation of schlage?

possibilities:
shlog
shlAyg <<looks like either this
shlAHg <<or this
sLAYge <<friend insists its this - no 'sh' sound at start, just 'sl'

thinks - *silly german derrived words*
The meaning of life, the universe and everything is 42.

Inflation however, may have changed this.
...
edit: yup, its definately 43 now

Nope, i just checked up on it and its pronounced like 'shLAYg'. Your friend was wrong its more of an 'shl' sound at the start. If you wanna hear it foryourself go to http://consumer.schlage.com/ and click the button near the upper left hand corner.

I say it like this

Fall
I wish the world was flat like the old days, and I could travel just by folding the map.

either fall or fahll

very similar sounds, just in one the 'h' in 'ah' is more enunciated.
