There is so much constant reminding around here that now people who are just merely responding to the the thread are being told not to stick their picks in other peoples locks. I think it would be better if we all got tattoos with the site rules printed on them. Or at least keep the reiteration of the site rules down to maybe once or twice per thread. Its really getting outrageous, ridiculous, plain annoying.

it does get a bit annoying, i agree, but the only reason i even said anything was because it had to do with a money box and i got confused on who's it was.

My guess about why that lock is difficult for the OP is that it is a very small keyway, and the OP is using full size southord picks which are too big for the keyway. If you have picked one of these little things with big picks and got it, that would mean that there were no deep cuts on the key. Picks have to be proportional to the lock, so yes, a bobbypin could beat a big old southord hook here.

Looks like a fishing tackle box to me. This thread brings to mind the floor safe thread somewhere. A yellow piece of yarn was extracted when it was opened. After much wringing of hands.

Seems to be a bit of confusion abounding. Is the "veil" lifted or not? Its just a simple wafer lock. You can fart in it and it will open. Picking this lock has nothing to do with a pin tumbler lock, except they are both locks.

You guys want a forum for newbies to learn how to defeat locks (in the dorm, at work, at play etc) and you want a secret forum for "locksmith professionals" after vesting of course.

Its fun to tease newbies but what if they get wise and stop coming here? Or start scanning old threads instead of making a new one? If it works.

Just saying, this forum has so much potential, its all sticky now.

The fact is that it has always been against the rules of the site to answer questions like this. It may be a simple wafer lock but that simple lock is protecting a cashbox. It may seem silly to some but it's how it always was here. Things seem to have changed lately, This thread should have been locked simply due to the title. All of the moderators seem to be MIA lately though. I can't remember the last time a moderator posted on the site. Things are changing, some think it's for the better, some think it's for the worse. I did not post on this thread before because I will not tell someone how to open a cashbox and it seems clear that threads are no longer going to be locked so why bother anymore to say it's advanced. Even when someone does a new member comes along behind and tells the OP how to open it. That type of activity used to get the person a warning. It was just agreed by the regular members of the site it would not be done. At the very least someone would reply saying "We need to wait for approval from a moderator before answering this."

It has nothing to do with trusting you Proctor. It has to do with the rules of the site and the image of locksport. How do you think it looks to someone who stops by to check (which I'm sure alot of people who work for companies with acronyms do) and we have posts out in the open about opening cashboxes? As far as I'm concerned you are a trusted and valued member of the site, but this thread should not be here.
