Universal bump key!!!

Has anyone considered making a "universal bump key"?
apart from destroying the whole art/sport of lock picking the major downside of bump keys as i see it is that you need the right key for the right lock. The principles of the bump key could be just as successful if modified, instead of having a bump key for each lock a small range of sort of hybrids between a bump key and a short pick that would fit almost any lock. something like a hacksaw blade cut to something like a key shape with the equivalent of the 99999 bump key shape cut into it would work as a bump key, make a few of these with variations on shape and size etc and u have a set of "bump picks" that would fit most locks. Has anyone something of a similar idea, I would be very interested for some feedback on what people think of the idea in terms of feasibility, or improvement of the idea.

Many keyways such as American padlock (1045) and master lock (6000) are almost exact opposites. You'd have to make your universal key very small and put it above the warding which would make it almost impossible to bump it smoothly and straight enough to work.

That's the minor problem.

The major problem is that the depth and spacing of the pins in locks varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. You might have some success with a bump key that has a dozen or so peaks at the bottom but It would be more luck than anything.

design a snapper, (pickgun) that has a rack of bumps on it and is struck so that it bangs in or jerks out. shouldn't be hard to do, although the snappers as currently made do exactly the same thing to the pins that a bump key does, except they impart the force directly rather than through the cam slope.

Well, there may never be a universal bump key, but there is a universal bump key making machine! And you don't even need the correct key blank! This is the closest thing i can think of.
